Not Dreaming This Time!

My husband and I are leaving for WDW in 6 days, baby! I can't wait! We're staying at Port Orleans Riverside- my favorite resort on property. Last time we stayed in Alligator Bayou, this time we're trying to get the Mansions. All I care about are those fabulous beds (if anyone knows where we can get mattresses like those- PLEASE let me know!), and Boatwright's- one of my two favorite restaurants in the World. The other would be Le Cellier in the Canada pavilion.
Also on the list for this trip:
San Angel Inn (fabulous- ate there before. Love their flan, but not the sauce that it's served with)
Rainforest Cafe- of course
Liberty Tree Tavern- I love the atmosphere. Wasn't too thrilled with the pot roast (little on the salty side), but my husband's Turkey was fabulous!
Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre- the food was terrible last time, but the atmosphere can't be beat, and I hear their new chef is excellent. Even the menu selections are different from last time, so I'm very much looking forward to this.

The most exciting part, is that my husband's mother and brother are joining us. This will be their first trip to WDW (though his brother was at Disneyland and loved the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Carribean of course)- and we're the lucky ones that get to show them around. AND the highly mysterious perpetual closings of the Wonders of Life Pavilion have taken a break- and it's open while we're down their! Yippeee! Cranium Command, Body Wars, and that goofy cartoon. Hooray!

Ok, I'm starving, and now I want to get to planning.

M.G.M.

Something I've been wanting to post for quite some time is my obsession with jewelry. I'm currently working on setting up a jewelry business (all hand-crafted by me, thank you very much), and so even my one true love (WDW) is unable to stay separate.
My fantasy of where to be? M.G.M., in that fantastic little jewelry shop that shares a building with the men's golfing apparel (located past the Villain's shop, but before you get to Tower of Terror). I've found my favorite Disney jewelry in there. A pair of fantastic 14k mickey face post earrings, italian charm bits (I collect one charm per visit, starting on my last visit- that charm was a Jack Skellington. I'm thinking Stitch for my upcoming December trip.), and some lovely, lovely things that are WAY out of my price range.
I can (and have) spent well over an hour in that shop- which is barely big enough to turn around in- without getting bored. I met a lovely sales girl in there, who agrees with me that diamonds are highly over-rated. And my only frustration, is that I have such wonderful, and simple ideas for jewelry at WDW, that I can't understand why their designers haven't come up with it yet! Couldn't they hire me as an ideas girl? I'd be happy to work for samples!
I'm going to have to resist the urge to start talking about my jewelry now... I think I'll go start another blog.

Ode to Disney Quest

Disney Quest, Disney Quest,
I long to return there lest,
Iger and Rasulo (forgive me if I have the wrong name)take away my favorite fest.

Pirates of the Carribean,
We were 50 points from bein',
Record holders of the piratey crew.

On Cyber Space Mountain,
Though on fun I was countin',
I managed thrill points of only two.

Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters,
I avoided much disaster,
For in the Replay Zone did I play.

Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride,
If not for fun I'd lose my pride,
But my companions still saved the day.

In Ride the Comix,
I battled Virtual Pix,
With a ten ton laser sword by my side.

In the Jungle Cruise- Virtual,
We had but one set ritual,
Through the same path, we had to abide.

Despite my desire to be in several other places on Disney property (trust me, you'll hear about them all)- this post is in response to hearing the news that Disney Quest will be closing to make way for ESPN Sportszone. I've heard also that the Chicago Disney Quest is closing (or has closed), and this information may be confused with that news. If so, I appologize for panicking everyone. From what I can tell though- this is happening to the Disney Quest at Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World. Believe me, I'm going to be VERY sad to see it go. And very happy indeed if I find out that this is an unsubstantiated rumor.
Please forgive my poor poetry, and if I've left out your favorite attraction- too bad. I'm only writing about what *I* like about Disney Quest- I didn't ride/play everything, and I didn't actually like Invasion! . Mostly because I thought it would be based on Alien Encounters from Tomorrowland (another wonderful attraction that Disney decided to close. Oh, and TimeKeeper. And many others, but those are the recent ones.) and found out that it wasn't.
That's all I have for this post.

My first blog

I've always avoided participating in the blogging world. My thoughts tend to stray (such as the word "kitten" popping into my mind just as I'm typing "stray"), and I'm never completely sure that people I talk to want to know what I have to say. So why put them down where I might inadvertantly waste someone's time with my meaningless drivel? Because today I had the overwhelming urge to share with someone, anyone, just how very much I wanted to be in one place, at one particular time, and I wanted to share it NOW.
I am completely obsessed with Walt Disney World. I am completely obsessed with many other things as well (fibre arts, reading, renaissance festivals, the desire to be rich), but this, this love of Walt Disney World is one of my all-consuming passions. My fiancee and I discuss the parks and resort hotels on a daily basis. Comparing notes of what days, and for how long, at which hotel we want to visit next. Arguing over restaurants, methods of travel, and other such nonsense is about the same with us as normal people discussing the weather forecast. In fact, the only thing we won't do to get down to the lovely state of Florida, is fly. Yes, a mere fear of crashing (not the heights, I don't mind actually being up there. It's the coming down that bothers me), is all that prevents us from selling everything we own, and becoming paupers for the joy of one more trip. Sound a bit like an addiction? You could say that.
Anyway- as much as I love things like: Walking down Main Street USA while gaping at Cinderella's castle, Watching Spectro-magic, Watching Wishes, Illuminations, or Fantasmic, and going on all the fantastic rides- what I love, really love, are tiny points of pixie dust- sometimes lasting less than a second- in really mundane places. That's what this blog is about- or will be about. So long as I can keep my thoughts tuned in.

Today's fantasy? Cosmic Ray's. Right about twilight- standing just outside the food lines, between the stairs, and the lounge with Sunny Eclipse. There is a moment, even if you enter with a battle plan (you- chicken line, you- salad, I'll get the drinks, we'll rendezvous upstairs at the table with the best view of the castle) where the lures of a cheesy lounge lizard, and a spectacular view of fantasy architecture are almost too close to choose. And that's the moment that I want, right now. Silly as it seems, I LIKE that feeling. And there's no where else in the world or the World that's quite the same.
