Disney Addiction

I've never thought of myself as someone who has an addictive personality. But, tell me if this sounds like a normal person's reaction.

I'm flipping through the Yellow Pages and spot and ad that says "20,000 Ears of Experience". My first thought? Ooooh! A travel agency that specializes in trips to Disney!

And then I look more closely at the ad- it's for an ear doctor.

Le Sigh.

Gorillas- Up Close And Personal

I love this gorilla. On our last trip, my husband, my brother in law, my mother in law, and I rode Kilimanjaro Safaris. When we got off the ride and walked out the exit, this is the sight that greeted us.

Now, I've never really been much of a gorilla person. My husband loves gorillas, bears, sharks... and just anything else that can be that intimidating. Except lions. I love lions, he doesn't.

Anyway, even though he's the one that loves gorillas, we were both in awe of this one. We were so close! Seriously, he couldn't have been more than four or five yards away- all that kept us separated was a little fence (keeping us out) and a very, very deep ditch (keeping him in). You can't see the ditch from the picture, but it started just past those plants in the front of the picture, and ended just in front of him. It was about 10' deeper than where his head was when he was at the bottom of the ditch.

So much personality. It was fascinating just watching him chew on plants. I never had any interest in the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail before, but after seeing this fellow, I can't wait for our next opportunity to check it out.

What I've Never Done: Animal Kingdom

I've been doing quite a bit of writing about Disney's Animal Kingdom: An article here, and a lense here. So it got me thinking... there's still a lot that I haven't done at the Animal Kingdom.

Things I Want To Do:

Pangani Forest Exploration Trail - I've done the Maharajah Jungle Trek, but never Pangani. On my first three trips, my feet hurt too much to do that much walking. On our last trip my feet were fine, but we didn't have time.

Character Greetings - We've had many opportunities, but they've always been with Winnie the Pooh. Blech.

Flights of Wonder - It's supposed to be a great show, but we've never really had the opportunity. The times were always awkward for what we wanted to do.

Wes Palm - I've seen Pipa and DeVine, but never Wes Palm. I heard he's a morning performer, so that could be why.

The Awakening - Some sort of ceremony or show that they do at the park's opening. I think the earliest we've ever gotten there was 10am, so we obviously miss that.

Things I Will Never Do:
Expedition Everest - Can't help it. I love the idea, it sounds incredible, and I've heard nothing but good reviews. But I just can't stand heights. Seriously, I won't even go on Goofy's Barnstormer.

Primeval Whirl - Again, I wish I could do it. But I just can't handle coasters. It looks like so much fun, but I just can't deal with drops. My husband loves it though!

Disney Articles

I haven't been posting much lately, but I have been writing about Disney. I wrote a two part article on transportation at Walt Disney World. Here's part 1. Also- I have an article on tips for wearing Crocs at Walt Disney World on the same site.
